History of the Books Revisited Literacy Foundation Inc

Formerly known as the Alamogordo Public Library Foundation, Inc. This Name change took place in 2021-2022. The location remains the sames. Donated used book sales in Alamogordo originated several years ago in the Alamogordo Public Library. Later those sales were moved to the west end of the vacated IGA Grocery Store, across the street from the library. Book sales were held there twice annually in a warehouse setting. Prior to the property being purchased by Albertson’s, Leslie Singh (deceased) secured a space in the White Sands Mall for the purpose of donated used book sales. She, herself, paid the rent for a year, either personally or from donated funds she secured.

From Warehouse to store front is how Books Revisited was born in June of 2011. In 2014, the space on the east side of the Mall way was added. Then in 2018 the mall owner remodeled the east side space, combining it with the storage areas, and the Books Revisited now has a new home on the east side of the Mall way.

The Books Revisited Literacy Foundation and Books Revisited share office space on the upper level. There is a delivery/sorting room and staff room on the main level in addition to several hundred square feet of sales space. Overflow area is in the Mall way on both the east and west side going north and south from the Books Revisited main entrance.

Donations of books of all genres are accepted within the store or in the drop boxes available 24/7 on the front side of the mall under the sign denoting Books Revisited.

Books Revisited, Staffed by volunteers, is open Tuesday thru Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Closed on most Federal Holidays.
